Our Artists

BIOGRAPHY
Barry Pennington
Barry Pennington (b.1959) paints with steadfast cheer. He likes to have multiple art projects going on at the same time, returning to different works to add layer after layer of color and shape. He has been lovingly dubbed “tape man” by one of the volunteers due to his complex masking process. Pennington is an abstract artist with a style that, over the years, has developed and become more complex in depth, color, and texture.
Pennington appreciates a big, organized workspace and likes to clean up as he goes. He gets great satisfaction out of finishing off a bottle of paint, glue, or a roll of tape. The light in his eyes is unmistakably that of a merry prankster and he often likes to joke and tease with his studio mates and instructor.
Barry is deaf and is a regular in our sign language classes. His staff comes with him to other classes to help with any needed communication. He also enjoys being around live music and participating in dance. He has been attending the OSLP Arts & Culture Program since it was established in the fall of 2012.
