Love Letters to the World Exhibition Opening
EXHIBITION: Love Letters to the World
Radiant Community Arts (Radiant) will present Love Letters to the World, a new installation exhibition designed to foster community connection and spread love through the power of written expression. The multimedia show features large-scale displays of letters sharing love for people, places, experiences, and everything in between.
Since launching a call for submissions in June, Radiant has collected love letters from contributors as far away as Pennsylvania, Arizona, and California. Decorated collection boxes were strategically placed throughout Eugene at MECCA, Community Cup Café, Dandelion Bookstore, Eugene Pride Festival, and The Oregon Country Fair, gathering a diverse array of heartfelt messages. Contributors have penned letters to partners and loved ones, to everyday pleasures like coffee and clouds, and even to every human on earth.
The exhibition’s centerpiece features a large papier-mâché tree with letters suspended from its branches, creating an immersive environment where visitors can both experience and contribute to the growing collection of love letters.
“We felt it would be an important community project to spread much-needed love to the world,” said Mija Andrade, the exhibition’s designer and manager. “We’ve had people write letters to the children of Palestine, to their pets and spouses, and to clouds and trees. We’re very excited to share this installation.” This marks Andrade’s final art show in Eugene before her relocation to Mexico.
The installation is co-designed by artist David Prince, who brings an additional layer of creative vision to the project.
“Love Letters to the World” offers visitors a heartwarming and thought-provoking experience that celebrates the power of love and human connection, extending far beyond Eugene’s borders while strengthening local community bonds.
