Radiant Launch Party a Success
We had a fantastic launch party on Wednesday, April 30th, for our new name, Radiant Community Arts! We had live music from local musicians, and gave away some great raffle prizes. The Eugene Area Chamber of Commerce hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and we were joined by many staff members, friends, and supporters.
We also opened our latest exhibition, Radiant, a theme matching our new name celebration. We received the largest number of submissions in our gallery history, and we are so happy to showcase such beautiful and diverse pieces of artwork, in mediums from paper mache to photography to glass mosaic and digital drawings and everything in between.
Our raffle prizes included a Mystery Art Box, which contained small art pieces and a gift certificate, a canvas painting by Larry Hurst, and a custom portrait to be painted by Perry Johnson.
Director Mija Andrade also announced her plans to depart the organization in the fall, and introduced Jessica Baker as the new Radiant Program Director. Jessica has a strong background in the arts as a theatre artist as well as nonprofit arts management. Radiant is looking forward to a future where everyone has access to artistic expression and we believe this next chapter will allow us to build resources and a larger community of supporters and participants.
We look forward to your visit! Our gallery is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 am to 5 pm and 5:30 to 8 pm on the first Friday of the month for First Friday ArtWalk.
